Godfrey Vaughan reborn as GV2

GV2 is the name of the new agency business launched by a number of ex-Godfrey Vaughan directors, EGi can exclusively reveal.

As reported by Estates Gazette last week, Charles Godfrey, Mike MacKeith and other Godfrey Vaughan directors were set to reform the agency that they sold to Colliers International three years ago.

Based at 72 New Bond Street, W1, GV2 will include on its board ex-Godfrey Vaughan director and Colliers’ employee Nigel Vaughan; Ian Pearson, managing director of Square Foot Consulting; and ex-banker Paul Aubery.

The new company has adopted a three-point focus plan: working with landlords, “good old-fashioned agency work” advising occupiers, and offering financial advice.

Godfrey said: “We think 2012 is the year where recovery begins. This is the beginning of the recovery and we want to enjoy this with clients.”

He added that the team was made up of specialists who could offer clients a wide range of expertise.

Godfrey also confirmed that he would still provide consultancy services to Colliers.

The relaunch of the company coincides with the end of a tie-in period following the acquisition of Godfrey Vaughan.

Godfrey Vaughan’s directors were paid £5m in cash on completion of the sale of the business, with the remaining £2m set to be paid in instalments over the following three years.

A number of other London niche agents have recently sold up and joined larger corporates.

Earlier this month, Savills bought City of London agency Gresham Down for around £4m, and in the final few months of last year, CBRE snapped up West End retail agent Michael Peddar & Co.
