Taylor Wimpey gets police nod

Taylor Wimpey has been appointed preferred developer to build an urban settlement at the former headquarters of Staffordshire Police, in Stafford.

The housebuilder was chosen by the Staffordshire Police Authority to redevelop the 16-acre site, which will include 180 family homes.

Due diligence is under way, with completion of the disposal to Taylor Wimpey expected shortly.

The site, which is located on Cannock Road to the south-east of Stafford town centre, has outline consent for residential development.

Staffordshire Police moved from Cannock Road to purpose-built headquarters in Weston Road, Stafford, in February 2010.

Colliers International advised Staffordshire Police; Taylor Wimpey was unadvised.
