The new owner of Peacocks, Edinburgh Woollen Mill’s Philip Day, hopes to save another 75 shops from permanent closure.
He is in talks with landlords in an attempt to reopen some of the 244 unprofitable stores that did not form part of last week’s rescue deal and had to close. Day said he would look to go to cheaper, monthly rents. He said there would be opportunities to acquire more businesses once Peacocks was “back on its feet” .
