Ladbrokes asks JLL for odds on move westwards

Gambling giant Ladbrokes is looking at expanding to new 100,000 sq ft offices in and around the M25.

The bookmaker has appointed Jones Lang LaSalle to conduct a feasibility study on whether it should move from its 70,000 sq ft head office and call centre in Harrow, north-west London, to a location further out in the Western corridor.

The firm has been based at the 1960s building Imperial House, which is owned by a private landlord, since 1996. A raft of leases on space in the building occupied by Ladbrokes’ subsidiaries will expire in mid 2013.

A source said: “The building is quite dated and a lease expiry would give Ladbrokes the perfect opportunity to get something fresher that would better represent its brand name.”

A larger head office would fit with Ladbrokes’ expansion plans, which include 40 new-format stores this year, following the opening of 29 new shops in 2011. All parties declined to comment.
