Poundland and Iceland take Peacocks stores

Poundland, Poundworld and Iceland have negotiated deals on 30 stores from administrators of Peacocks.

The stores vary in size between 4,000 sq ft and 20,000 sq ft. Administrators at KPMG are marketing the remaining 124 stores, which are attracting interest from goods and food retailers.

KPMG is also in discussions with Edinburgh Woollen Mill on 17 former Peacocks stores.

The administrators have surrendered the leases on a further 53 closed stores to landlords.

Peacocks, which had 611 stores, was placed into administration earlier this year. KPMG sold the group’s Bonmarché division to Sun European Partners in January. One month later, it sold the Peacocks brand, 388 stores and concessions, as well as the business’s headquarters and logistics functions in Wales to Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

The remaining 224 stores were not included in the sale and have ceased trading.

Prime Retail is advising KPMG.
