The Co-operative Group’s NOMA scheme and Ask Developments’ First Street campus are among options being targeted by one of Manchester’s largest office requirements.
Jacobs Engineering has narrowed its search for as much as 100,000 sq ft for a North West regional headquarters to around six sites.
At NOMA, Jacobs would occupy Hanover, the Co-op’s proposed refurbishment of a 105,000 sq ft Grade II listed building at the 20-acre estate. Ask, meanwhile, is aiming to sign Jacobs to its 180,000 sq ft Number One First Street, where Manchester council is temporarily occupying 140,000 sq ft. It will quit the building next year.
The engineer is also considering out-of-town options with Peel Holdings and Orbit Developments. Peel is vying to secure Jacobs for Horizon, a proposed 107,000 sq ft office development on a plot adjacent to the Trafford Centre, while Orbit wants to land the requirement for its recently refurbished Park Square building in Cheadle, near Stockport. Jacobs already occupies 22,000 sq ft at Park Square.
The US-based firm is also understood to be considering MAG Developments’ planned Airport City campus at Manchester Airport and Goodman’s Manchester Business Park.
