Cardinal Lysander unveils Farringdon Crossrail vision

Crossrail and development partner Cardinal Lysander have lodged plans for a 207,000 sq ft over-site scheme above London’s new Farringdon station, EC1.

The joint planning application comprises six storeys of offices, with shops at street level for the new Crossrail station, which is located at the corner of Cowcross Street and Farringdon Road.

Ian Lindsay, Crossrail land and property director, said: “By 2018, Farringdon will be one of Britain’s busiest rail stations, linking Crossrail, Thameslink and London Underground services. Our proposed developments will accelerate the area’s regeneration, helping Farringdon to re-emerge as a destination in its own right.”

Subject to consent from Islington council and the City of London Corporation, work on the John Robertson Architects-designed scheme will begin in the later stages of the construction of the station, which is due to open in 2018.

Jones Lang LaSalle is advising Cardinal Lysander, which was given the first option to develop the scheme because it was the majority landowner before the site was purchased.
