Peter Lillington (pictured) and Robert Matthews are to jointly take control of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership following the departure of Malcolm Naish this week.
The pair, head of UK real estate and head of international real estate and strategy respectively, have stepped in to run the real estate investment team as SWIP works on finalising a permanent replacement for Naish.
Lillington has 29 years and Matthews has 28 years of experience in real estate.
Naish, 59, announced in early May that he would be taking early retirement.
SWIP said the process of finding a replacement for Naish was “progressing well”.
Naish, who joined the investment manager in 2007, said he decided to retire because, “After more than 40 years in real estate, this is the fourth recession that I have been through in my career. I felt that this was a good moment to leave on a high.”
