Five line up £300m police contract

Capita Symonds, CBRE, DTZ, EC Harris and Telereal Trillium are battling for a lucrative contract from the Metropolitan Police.

The work, which includes property and facilities management, could be worth as much as £300m in fees over 11 years.

The contract is being watched closely in the industry because it is the first of its kind to be procured by a public body.

It represents the first step of a two-tier procurement programme for the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, with the winner acting as a top-tier “facilities management” integrator.

The volume of work carried out via the contract could also expand because other public sector bodies, such as Transport for London, will be eligible to use it.

The winning bidder will be responsible for procuring the second-tier supply chain, which is expected to carry out much of the day-to-day FM work.
