P&C plans Manchester scheme

Fred and Peter Done’s Peninsula & Century are planning to build a new 180,000 sq ft office block on Mosley Street near St Peter’s Square in Manchester city centre, according to reports.

The Done brothers, who own betting chain Betfred, have a substantial landholding next to the site of Argent’s One St Peter’s Square, which is currently under construction.

A scheme currently dubbed Two St Peter’s Square would replace Century House, Bennett House, Clarendon House and Sussex House. The nearby Elizabeth House was demolished to make way for the new Argent scheme.

Peninsula is understood to have drawn up plans for the 12-storey scheme with Ian Simpson Architects which could be submitted to the city council before the end of the year.

Done’s property firm also developed the 150,000 sq ft Peninsula building near the Manchester Arena, which opened in 2010 and where it occupies six floors.
