Association of Property Bankers rebrand

The Association of Property Bankers has changed its name to the Association of Property Lenders.

The move reflects the changing shape of property finance according to APL president Andrew Goodbody.

He said: “With new lenders emerging from the insurance sector, private equity-backed debt funds being set up and new mezzanine providers coming forward, it is important that our organisation evolves to represent the wider property lending industry”.

Formed in 1991, the association has more than 400 members and has seen a growing number of non-banking members.

Goodbody added: “Today 30% of our members do not work for banks and this has been an increasing trend. Although our brand has grown over 20 years, we feel it is important to attract members from all lending institutions and our name change is an integral part of that”.
