Engineering firm Costain is set to leave its current Manchester base at Trident Business Park, near the airport.
The firm has appointed Drivers Jonas Deloitte to find between 50,000 and 60,000 sq ft in South Manchester or Warrington and is understood to have shortlisted five schemes, including Cheadle Royal business park and a possible design and build on the Siemens site in Didsbury.
Other sites in the frame are thought to include schemes in Daresbury and Birchwood, both near Warrington.
Costain is taking advantage of an upcoming lease break and could complete a move by next summer. It currently occupies 56,000 sq ft at Trident.
The potentially disruptive infrastructure works due to take place around the £650m Airport City scheme is understood to be another factor in the move.
A spokesman for the firm said: ” The Costain Group is currently looking at its future requirements regarding the location of offices in the Manchester area as the lease at Trident Business Park, Wythenshawe, expires in the next few years. No decision has been made as yet and we are weighing up the options of remaining in the building or moving elsewhere in the vicinity.”
