IPD plans to publish the UK’s first set of data on real estate loans, subject to a feasibility study due to be carried out this year.
Glenn Corney, IPD’s first head of lender services, will lead the initiative, which forms part of IPD’s efforts to develop into a source for debt indices.
The feasibility study will look at the collection of data at the level of individual loans on individual properties. There is currently no independent data of this kind available in the UK.
The benchmarking agency hopes that an initial pool of data on loans could eventually develop into an index for debt investors.
