DTZ has appointed Barry O’Donnell as head of UK shopping centre investment.
O’Donnell joins as a senior director and will report to Mike Friday, head of DTZ’s retail business unit.
O’Donnell has over 15 years’ experience in the real estate sector. Prior to joining DTZ, he was a partner at Lewis Ellis following nine years at Jones Lang La Salle.
O’Donnell’s appointment follows the departure of DTZ’s head of retail investment, Mark Williams, in January. He left the firm after 26 years to join retail developer the Hark Group.
Last month, DTZ promoted Adrian Powell, former head of retail development at the agent, to lead the agent’s retail team across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as revealed by Estates Gazette.
Hugh Radford, DTZ’s head of UK retail, said: “Barry brings a huge amount of experience to DTZ. He has a very strong track record in retail investment and specifically UK shopping centres. We are looking forward to combining his trusted skills together with our leasing team’s leading market-facing occupational knowledge. This is another key recruitment to strengthen DTZ’s retail investment team, which already benefits from senior director Marcus Wood and directors Alex Pound and Andrew Ingles.”
Colin Wilson, head of DTZ UK & Ireland, said: “There will be further recruitment in this area to enable DTZ to continue strengthening our retail investment team.”
