BlackRock has appointed James Wilkinson as the European chief investment officer of its new global real estate securities platform.
Wilkinson, who will be responsible for building and leading the platform’s European investment team, will start in his new position from January next year.
“Following the launch of the global real estate securities platform at BlackRock in June this year, our focus has been on building the team and, in turn, BlackRock’s capacity to enable investors to access the asset class,” said Mark Howard-Johnson, global head of the real estate securities group, to whom Wilkinson will report.
“With his wealth of experience in real estate securities, James is ideally placed to help build out our proposition in Europe.”
Wilkinson will join BlackRock from Thames River Capital, where he has worked since 2004. He previously served as fund manager of real estate securities with Henderson.
