Reading council is preparing to put its 21-acre Island Road site up for sale as a development opportunity.
The council has appointed Hicks Baker to bring the asset to market after plans by Stadia UK for a “racino” – a complex that combines a race track and a casino – fell through earlier this year.
The land is mostly vacant and is used as a car park. The council is keen to keep a race track within any future schemes.
Hicks Baker is expected to help draw up a development brief and basic pricing structure by the end of the year.
