A Future Homes Commission study concludes council workers’ pension funds should be used to pay for housebuilding projects.
The year-long study by the commission set up by the Royal Institute of British Architects believes this would be a way to kick-start the “dysfunctional” housing market. The report looks at ways of building high-quality affordable housing. It also proposes greater use of brownfield land, more focus on design and more pro-active role by local authorities.
