Watford Health Campus approved

Watford council has approved revised plans for the Watford Health Campus in Hertfordshire.

They include the use of the Farm Terrace Allotment site to improve the viability of the scheme.

The project will see new hospital facilities, employment space, new homes, improved open public space and a neighbourhood centre developed in the west of the town.

The council’s cabinet also established a legal agreement with Kier Project Investment.

Negotiations will now continue with Kier to form a partnership, which will see the council and West Herts Hospital Trust contribute land and Kier provide finance.

Kier was selected by the Health Campus Partnership joint partnership, which is made up of Watford borough council, West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and Watford Football Club, in August. It beat off competition from John Laing for the contract to develop the 65-acre site on the Cardiff Road industrial estate.
