Allianz Real Estate has appointed Mauro Montagner as its chief executive officer in Italy and head of the firm’s southern European platform.
Montagner, who is based in Milan, joined Allianz from Morgan Stanley, where he covered several management positions in the real estate fund business. He previously worked with AEW Europe in London and with the Baupost Group in the US.
He will be in charge of consolidating Allianz RE’s investment activities in Italy and increasing the group’s real estate portfolio, focusing mainly on southern Europe. He will also become a member of Allianz RE’s executive committee.
“The market in southern Europe, especially in Italy, is very interesting for us,” said Allianz RE’s chief executive Olivier Piani. “The economic situation at the moment is not yet overcome but offers as well many opportunities – also in southern Europe – which we would like to embrace.”
