Brookgate has lodged an appeal against the refusal of consent for the latest phase of its 1.6m sq ft CB1 development in Cambridge.
Cambridge city council turned down plans for the latest phase – a 133,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme at 50-60 Station Road – in July.
The council cited problems over the height and massing of the buildings, the lack of sufficient car parking and public benefit from the demolition of the existing buildings on site.
The scheme had been recommended for approval.
The buildings, next to Cambridge station, have been described by the developer as a key element for CB1.
The developer resubmitted planning for Station Road in December, reducing the density of the development and increasing the number of car parking spaces.
The council confirmed it had been notified of the appeal by the Planning Inspectorate.
Sarah Dyer, city development manager at the council, said: “Brookgate’s amended application will be considered at the March committee before we have concluded the appeal process.”
Brookgate declined to comment.
