Jones Lang LaSalle has been named as the most active agent in the UK in EGi’s 2012 deals competition.
The agent retains the crown for the most number of transactions, for a second year running having leapfrogged LSH last year following its merger with King Sturge. Deals from its industrial and distribution business were the biggest contributor to its gold position.
Competition at the top was hot with four percentage points separating JLL from rivals CBRE. Amongst the top five agents, LSH took the biggest tumble down the rankings from the number two position down to fourth.
In the regions, the independent firms won the day. Ryden saw a 42% increase in year-on-year deals volumes. Meanwhile, North East stalwart Sanderson Weatherall, made the top five in three regional categories.
Anna Reed, head of EGi Research, said: “For all the consolidation happening among the national chains, the strength of the regional agents seems to be growing. In eight out of twelve areas around the country it’s regional agents that are doing the most deals and this underlines how important the independents are to commercial property.”
