MIPIM: Birmingham city council leader Sir Albert Bore said the city’s relationship with Manchester is not about competition.
Speaking on the Birmingham stand he said both cities are investing in infrastructure to make them more attractive in the UK and abroad and the focus was on creating a competitive property scene without rivalling each other.
When asked about the challenges for the city he said it was about meeting demand.
‘We are seeing quite an increase in FDI [foreign direct investment]. Last year we were up by 40%, against a UK decline of 2% and we think that interest has been maintained into 2013. So, it seems there is a lot of interest coming through and we need to maintain that,’ he said.
