Lands Improvement, the land development and promotion group owned by MGPA, has obtained planning approval for 201 homes in Colchester, Essex.
The 14-acre site is part of an overall 53-acre landholding.
The brownfield part of the site, which is now vacated, has around 250,000 sq ft of old buildings which will be demolished.
Kevin Moriarty, managing director of Lands Improvement, said: “We are encouraged by the recent moves by the coalition government to stimulate house building by underpinning mortgages and this planning approval is another step to bring forward a previously brownfield site for much-needed housing development.
“This approval also adds to consents gained for two other UK schemes in recent months, allowing LIH to provide much-needed infrastructure in order that people accessing the new government initiatives have access to homes.”
