Rob Valentine, Bruntwood

In a decade, Rob has reached a personal best of 3 hours 10 minutes and this year is aiming for even better. He earned his place on his time alone, but is also raising money for the West Midlands Prince’s Trust.
Neill Mison, CBRE
http://justgiving.com/Neill-Mison1
Neill Mison is partially sighted and values the help he’s had in the past from the Royal National Institute of Blind People. Raising money for RNIB, so that it can continue to help people worse off than himself, was a straightforward choice.
Jonathan Doughty, Coverpoint Catering Consultancy

It takes some commitment not to let a globe-trotting lifestyle tasting the latest and greatest food
get in the way of a training regime. But it’s paid off for Jonathan, who has not only dropped nearly 20 kilos, but has also raised more than £18,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. He aims to “waddle” over the line for £50,000.
Matthew Breen, student, Reading University

“This is probably the worst year to do a marathon; I’m a final-year undergraduate student who wants to be in the pub, not running.” Whatever his thoughts, Matthew is going all the way, running the marathon to raise money for children’s cancer charities, after he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011.
Sam Whitham, CBRE
http://justgiving.com/Sam-Whitham
Sam’s paying it forward, raising money for Pendleside, Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle, for the care given to his grandmother who lost her battle with bowel cancer three years ago. He’s feeling confident, vowing to donate £25 of his own money for every five minutes he runs over 3hrs 30mins. “I’ve been pushing myself very hard,” he says.
Sophie Danes, CBRE
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SophieDanes
Sophie started running the day she stopped smoking seven years ago, and has run three marathons since, so she knows what she’s doing. She is fund raising for Centrepoint, a homeless charity for 16 to 25-year-olds. But it will take more than experience alone to reach her 4hrs 15mins goal. “I can only run to 90s dance music,” she insists.

Craig Ellis, Estates Gazette
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Craig_Ellis
Craig gets through his rigorous training regime by treating himself to a strategically timed beer at the end of a long weekend run. His marathon effort is a toast to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, which helped save his mum. His top training tip? “Plasters on the nipples for runs over 10 miles.
Andrew Toy, Estates Gazette
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AJT4Breakthrough
Andrew decided to run after spectating last year. “I was inspired by the diversity of runners – not just the young, but also people more than three times my age,” he says.
Benjamin Miller, Estates Gazette
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/BenjaminMiller2
With little training to speak of, Benjamin’s relying on his whippet-thin frame to complete the race and his big hair for comedy value. “I will get across that finish line even if I have to crawl,” he says. Benjamin is raising money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Rebecca Kent, Estates Gazette
http://justgiving.com/TONY-WHITE7
Rebecca is under no illusions she is going lead from the front.
“I’m taking a head lamp for when it gets dark and a calendar to check my time,” she says. Rebecca is raising money for the Association of International Cancer Research.
Rob Noble, Estates Gazette
http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RobertNoble1
“I’m no Mo Farah,” says Rob.
“But I only have two goals for the marathon: to complete the
26.2 miles without sustaining any permanent bodily harm and to raise a substantial amount of money for a really good cause.” Rob’s target is to raise £2,000.
