The Ministry of Defence has shortlisted four bids to redevelop Deepcut Army Barracks in Surrey into 1,200 new homes.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation has selected St Modwen/Vinci, Lend Lease, Carillion/Argent and Skanska for the £300m contract.
The four parties have submitted their proposals for taking forward the contract. The shortlist will be narrowed down to three by the end of the month, and a decision on the final party is expected in the New Year.
The preferred party will be expected to provide a training infrastructure, which will include the construction of a tri-service training and administration facility with ancillary catering, retail, leisure, community, welfare, single living and service family accommodation, at Worthy Down in Hampshire.
It will also be required to manage the relocation of military units from Deepcut to Worthy Down and the subsequent redevelopment and disposal of the PRB Deepcut site.
GVA, which has been appointed by the DIO to identify potential developers, said that Deepcut has the potential to deliver 1,200 homes as well as commercial, retail and community space.
