Harvey Nicks doubles up at Mailbox

Harvey Nichols is doubling the size of its store in Birmingham at Brockton Capital’s and Milligan Retail’s Mailbox.

The luxury retailer is taking 45,000 sq ft at the Mailbox, more than double the size of its existing store at the 641,000 sq ft scheme.

It comes as Brockton and Milligan are to spend £50m on a revamp of the Mailbox.

As part of the Mailbox’s refresh, Harvey Nichols will relocate from its current position at the front of the scheme to the back.

Plans also include remodelling the rest of the building to reduce the current 150,000 sq ft size of the overall retail offer while introducing more leisure space at the back of the scheme.

Work is due to start before the end of the summer and the new Harvey Nichols is due to open in spring 2015.

Brockton and Milligan bought the scheme from the administrators of Birmingham Mailbox for £127m in March 2011.

Nash Bond is the retail letting agent.
