Veteran surveyor David Neale has attempted retirement twice before, but this time it’s for good.
Neale, 70, owner of the eponymous surveying firm, is swapping his theodolite for a golf club and Birmingham’s urban setting for the beaches of the Mediterranean after more than 50 years in property.
The commercial property management specialist has sold the company to colleague Neil Tunks.
Neale said: “I have spent more than half a century in property and have seen massive changes in the way surveyors are trained, a raft of legislation and the implementation of IT. I have worked through three recessions, the worst of which is the one we are still in now.”
Neale began his career as a trainee at Grimley & Son (now GVA) in 1960. He then worked in Brum and London for various companies before acquiring and selling several firms of his own. David Neale Surveyors was set up in 2009.
