Croydon Council Urban Regeneration Vehicle, a joint venture between John Laing and the local authority, is pushing ahead with £150m of new schemes in the south London town.
The 50:50 jv, set up in 2008 and chaired by infrastructure and development specialist Jayne McGivern, is preparing to start work on its next major project, the residential redevelopment of the council’s former HQ, Taberner House.
The 21-storey, 1960s-built office block will be transformed into a 400-flat scheme, designed by MAKE.
A public consultation on designs for the tower block will be held later in the summer with plans submitted in November.
Subject to consent, CCURV hopes to start work on site in 2014 with completion in 2017.
The £105m project will be delivered in two phases. The first will comprise 200 private rented homes in a 30-storey tower, while the second will be flexible tenure flats in four low-rise pavilion blocks. Savills is advising.
CCURV is also working on the development of a further 90 flats across several schemes in the town and a new 50,000 sq ft Waitrose store and 9,000 sq ft health centre in nearby Coulsdon.
The jv’s first project, ?the 240,000 sq ft Bernard Weatherill House, a new HQ for the council, was completed in May.
