Ask in legal row over Airport City

Ask Real Estate is seeking legal advice after Manchester Airports Group announced that Ask was no longer in the running for the £650m Airport City scheme.

Manchester Airports’ statement this week, however, said that the process to find a joint venture partner was still ongoing and promised an imminent decision after continuing discussions.

Ask expressed its “profound shock and disappointment” that Manchester Airports’ position contradicted a letter it received from the group’s agents, CBRE, on 9 July.

Ask said that the correspondence confirmed that bids for Airport City “do not present the best solution for MAP” and that the “procurement process for a partner for Airport City is terminated”.

Ask has joined up with Beijing Construction and Engineering Group, supported by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, to bid for the mandate.

The consortium was pitted against the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, developer Argent and construction company Carillion.
