Music retailer HMV is to reopen at its original store, 363 Oxford Street, W1 .
Hilco Capital, which owns HMV, has exchanged contracts on the 20,000 sq ft shop. It is due to open in early October and will feature a recreation of the store’s iconic 1950s His Master’s Voice neon signage.
The store, now occupied by Footlocker, was opened by Sir Edward Elgar in July 1921.
HMV chairman Paul McGowan, said: “We are thrilled to be returning to HMV to its original home at 363 Oxford Street and this reflects HMV’s renewed focus on going back to its roots and getting the basics right, providing the deepest range of entertainment products.”
