Tesco set for Hong Kong move

Tesco is considering a partnership with a Chinese retailer to buy a leading supermarket chain in Hong Kong.

The retail giant is in talks with China Resources Enterprise to launch a bid for ParknShop, which is owned by Hutchison Whampoa. If the deal goes through it will create the largest supermarket company in Hong Kong.

There are believed to be eight bidders for ParknShop, which include Walmart, Lotte and Aeon.
