BT has submitted a planning application to Lambeth council for the redevelopment of Keybridge House on South Lambeth Road, SW8.
It plans to transform the building, which sits in the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea area, into 415 houses and flats and land for a new two-form entry primary school.
If BT successfully secures planning consent for the Allies and Morrison-designed scheme, it will look to sell the site to a property developer.
Sally Leonard, BT group property head of asset management and strategy, said: “Keybridge House has been an important part of BT’s communications business, but it’s now the right time for the site, located as it is in the heart of London, to play its part in the regeneration of the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea area.
“We are delighted with the response we have had to the proposals so far. Since the spring we have been refining the masterplan and are confident we are submitting a truly excellent proposal that will make a lasting and positive contribution to the area”.
