Katowice retail scheme opens

Property investor Meyer Bergman and developer Neinver have opened their 53,000m² retailed-anchored scheme in the Polish city Katowice, a €240m (£200m) joint project with Polish state railway company PKP.

The centre has opened 90% let.

The project is said to be likely to transform the retail offer in Katowice and the wider Silesian region.

Galeria Katowicka is majority owned by London-based retail property investor Meyer Bergman and Spain-headquartered Neinver.

It is part of a major regeneration programme of the region’s transport infrastructure by PKP and has direct connections to Katowice’s rail and bus stations.

The project has five levels of shopping which provide 250 shops with a gross lettable area of 53,000m².

Anchors include a Peek & Cloppenburg Department Store, Zara, Pull & Bear, Bershka, Levi’s, Nike, Adidas and Sephora.

Pre-lets also included United Colours of Benetton, Mango and Massimo Dutti.

“The architecturally-captivating Galeria Katowicka is a key cornerstone in Katowice’s regeneration and today’s launch marks the next milestone in the City’s and region’s prospering future,” said Meyer Bergman had of asset management Mark Gamble.
