Eight acres of development land on the edge of Birmingham city centre have been put up for sale by waste recycling company SITA UK.
The firm has appointed Lambert Smith Hampton to seek offers for the Montague Street site of upwards of £2.5m.
The land, which lies close to the Eastside regeneration zone, is likely to appeal to developers or owner-occupiers. Around 100,000 sq ft of space could be developed.
Montague Street is vacant following SITA’s move to a £7m,120,000 sq ft facility in nearby Landor Street earlier this year.
Part of the new Landor Street site is potentially subject to a CPO by HS2 to make way for the proposed high speed rail line. Sources said, however, that while the CPO could cut the corner of the site it would not affect the building. BNP Paribas Real Estate is advising SITA on discussions with HS2.
Alex Carr, director of industrial and logistics at LSH, said: “SITA, having relocated to a new, larger facility, now finds this site surplus to requirements.
“Sites of this size so close to the city centre rarely become available. It provides an exciting opportunity for commercial property developers to acquire the freehold of a large parcel of land with an enormous amount of potential.”
