GVA wins science park brief

GVA has been appointed to market the University of Chester’s 66-acre Thornton Science Park development.

The 1.1m sq ft site currently houses 48 buildings, including laboratories, workshops, offices and sports facilities.

Formerly the Shell Technology Centre, the site will be home to a new faculty of science, engineering and technology, as well as a new science park.

Three major buildings are being adapted for occupation by students in 2014 as part of the first phase of the project.

GVA director Patrick Whitby said the park was “one of the most significant and deliverable projects to come to the North West market in recent years”.

“While science parks have proliferated in the UK and around the globe for at least three decades, this landmark project seeks to develop a new approach that is focused on building on the relationship between education, industry and government.”
