Santander’s Scott Stuart dies aged 42

Santander’s managing director of structured finance, Scott Stuart, has died aged 42.

Stuart joined the Spanish bank’s corporate banking division as a regional director in London & South East in 2010 and became managing director of corporate real estate finance the following year. Prior to joining Santander, Stuart had been with Lloyds Banking Group.

His death on Wednesday (16 October) followed a year-long battle with cancer.

A statement from Steve Pateman, Head of UK Banking at Santander, said: “Scott had been battling with cancer for a year or so and had worked through this period, which reflects the true professional that he was as well as his commitment to his customers, which was very much at the heart of his approach.

“Our thoughts at this time are with his family and colleagues and Santander will be marking Scott’s contribution to the business and the property market at an appropriate point in the future.”

He added that anyone interested can contact the company for further details.

Stuart’s responsibilities have been taken over by Andrew Whelan in the interim.
