Redrow wins £55m Berewood phase 2

Grainger has appointed Redrow Homes to develop the second phase of its 2,550 home Berewood project in Hampshire.

The phase has a GDV of £55m, and will see a 40% level of affordable housing when work begins in the new year.

Redrow’s tranche will be delivered according to the Berewood masterplan drawn up through Savills and ADAM Architecture.

Phase 2 sits within the southern “garden suburb” section of the masterplan, which prioritises green spaces and favours natural materials. Work on phase one and associated infrastructure upgrades is already underway.

Grainger development director John Beresford said Redrow’s reputation meant “we can be confident that the homes will be built to a high standard”.

“Redrow’s design submission interpreted our design codes perfectly and is very much in keeping with the vision of Berewood that we have promised to deliver. Redrow shares our ethos and understands our vision.”

Redrow is looking to increase output to 500 homes annually in the next three to five years in Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and West Sussex.

It is hoped that detailed consent will be secured by Spring 2014.

Phase one of the 13-phase project is being built by Bloor Homes, consisting of 194 residential. Berewood will also include 1m sq ft of commercial space.
