Canary Wharf to move Mountain

Canary Wharf Group is in talks to buy a site at 83 Barchester Street, E14, from storage firm Iron Mountain.

The Docklands developer is understood to be in discussions to buy the one-acre site for more than £6m, with plans to use it as a donor site for affordable homes as part of its 20-acre Wood Wharf regeneration ?project in east London.

Allies & Morrison is leading the masterplan for Wood Wharf, with Terry Farrell & Partners consulting on the scheme.

A number of other architectural firms are working on individual buildings within the proposed development.

Outline consent has been received for 4.7m sq ft of mixed-use offices, shops and housing on the site, but Canary Wharf wants the scheme to be redesigned in order to attract more technology, media and communications occupiers.

Canary Wharf took full ownership of the site, to the east of its Canary Wharf estate, in ?January 2012, buying out its partners, Ballymore and British Waterways.

Jones Lang LaSalle is acting for Iron Mountain.
