Green REIT has appointed Niall O’Buachalla as chief operating officer of the Irish property company’s investment manager.
O’Buachalla will assume this role with Green REIT Property Ventures from 6 January 2014.
His position will incorporate the management of all financial, regulatory and risk functions of Green REIT as well as co-ordination of transactions and debt structuring of the company’s asset portfolio.
The appointment comes after Stephen Vernon’s and Pat Gunne’s company announced the €127.6m (£109m) purchase of a 10-strong portfolio from Danske Bank Ireland alongside its maiden interim results in October.
O’Buachalla has over a decade of experience in the commercial property sector and previously held positions as finance director at Burlington Real Estate, where he was a co-founder.
At Treasury Holdings he was involved in capital raising for large-scale commercial property developments and acquisitions in Ireland, the UK and China. Prior to Treasury, he was a property analyst at Tesco Ireland.
Pat Gunne, managing director of Green REIT Property Ventures, said: “Niall brings a range of domestic and international property experience to Green REIT and we are pleased that he will join our team as we progressively invest our capital in Irish commercial property assets which are consistent with our stated strategy.”
He added: “We have recently acquired a significant, diversified portfolio, with strong covenants, which provides an opportunity to drive rental income and enhance capital value through active asset management.
“Niall will play an important role in our plans for Green REIT’s development in addition to providing oversight of risk and regulatory management issues.”
