A BT radio station site in Rugby, Warwickshire, is set to be redeveloped into more than 6,000 homes following the approval of a major mixed-use scheme.

Rugby Radio Station ?Limited Partnership, a joint venture between BT and Aviva Investors, which owns the ?site, has appointed Urban & Civic as preferred development partner.

The proposals are for a phased development over 20 years. Subject to completion of a legal agreement and formal issue of planning permission, work is expected to begin during the second half of 2014, with the first new homes expected to be available by 2015.

Separately, the partnership is working with Prologis to expand Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal on the remainder of the 1,600-acre radio station site.
