The Crown Estate has received planning consent for two major residential schemes to create 1,050 homes and several developments for other uses.
The homes are in the Future Bingham rural project, which involves land earmarked for employment around Butt Fields and Chapel Lane, to the north of Bingham, Nottinghamshire, being redeveloped.
Alongside the housing, Future Bingham will provide 42 acres of light and general industrial space and business space on a new business park.
Also granted approval is a new supermarket in Thetford which, the firm says, will create up to 300 jobs.
Crown Estate strategic land manager Steve Melligan said: “[Last year] was a very productive year for The Crown Estate and the promotion of our land assets. The coming year will see our sales and acquisition activity reach new levels, releasing capital for further investment and development across our portfolio.
“This is part of our concentration on our core sectors where we have critical mass and a level of expertise that will drive outperformance.”
