Malaysians buy Battersea dairy

The Malaysian owners of Battersea power station have bought the Dairy Crest Depot in Nine Elms, SW8.

The circa 2-acre site opposite Battersea power station was purchased through a special purpose vehicle called the Battersea Project Phase 5 Residential Company for £17.6m.

It offers options for further development alongside the £8bn 39-acre Battersea Power Station project.

Malaysian SP Setia, Sime Darby and the Employees Provident Fund completed the £400m purchase of Battersea power station in September 2012.

A first phase of 800 homes have since been sold off plan and are currently under construction.

Detailed plans for the redevelopment of the power station itself were put out to public consultation in November 2013. The proposals comprise 400,000 sq ft of shops, cafés and restaurants, 580,000 sq ft of offices and 248 homes.
