The Crown Estate has poached the managing director of Yattendon Estates to head its 15,800-acre Windsor Estate.
Paul Sedgwick has been appointed as deputy ranger (head of its Windsor Estate) by the Crown Estate. He will join the company in August.
He will be responsible for overseeing the estate, which manages a range of activities, including property and the Great Park. It attracts 3m visitors annually.
Sedgwick is currently the managing director of Yattendon Estates, which comprises residential and commercial property across 9,000 acres. Prior to that, he was resident agent to the Duke of Wellington’s family, with responsibility for managing 8,000 acres.
Alison Nimmo, chief executive of the Crown Estate, said: “The Windsor Estate holds a special place in our portfolio and it continues to go from strength to strength. Paul’s extensive experience as an estate manager and leader make him the ideal candidate to succeed in this post in safeguarding the unique and special character of one of the nation’s finest parks, but also optimising the estate’s financial performance.”
Sedgwick replaces Phillip Everett, who announced his retirement last year after leading the team for 16 years.
