Dennis Turner
1946-2014
Dennis Turner, who died last month, was a frequent contributor to Estates Gazette and brought insight and humour to economics.
He was best known as chief economist at HSBC, a role he retired from in 2011.
Throughout his career Turner had regular contact with policy-making bodies including, in a personal capacity, advising the pre-Blair Labour party. Beyond economics he was an authority on everything from the need for a UK industrial investment bank to Fulham Football Club – a team he supported from the age of six, eventually becoming a non-executive director.
His wife, Pauline, and children, Robert and Claire, have requested any charitable donations be made to their local hospice.
Cheques should be made payable to St Luke’s Hospice and sent to HC Grimstead, Funeral Directors, 18 Bridge Street, Pinner, Middlesex HA5 3JF.
