DofE Challenge crown up for grabs
The coveted Duke of Edinburgh Challenge champions crown is up for grabs for another year.
Teams of four to six people are invited to enter the event, which includes overnight camping and hiking 30 miles across the gruelling terrain of the Peak District. And if that’s not challenge enough, teams will also be required to build a raft, show their archery skills and rock climb.
While testing the mental and physical prowess of even the most intrepid property figures, this event offers the opportunity to raise money to change the lives of young people for the better.
Challengers are encouraged to knock reigning champion Hand Picked Hotels off the number one spot.
The event is being held over the weekend of 20-21 September. To enter, a £50 deposit is required, followed by sponsorship money of £325 per person.
To get involved, e-mail Teri.Ho@DofE.org.
CARE throws down the gauntlet
Aid agency CARE International has thrown down the gauntlet to the property and construction industry to run, pedal and paddle to raise money to combat poverty.
The charity is urging participants to sign up to the CARE Construction Challenge and cover a marathon distance on foot, bicycle and kayak in the scenic surrounds of the Forest of Dean in Monmouthshire.
Crunch day is 29 June and teams of two, three or four will be asked to raise £500 per person.
The money will go towards CARE International’s work, which includes constructing emergency and transitional shelter, permanent housing and vital infrastructure in humanitarian crises.

Four marathons in five days across the Sahara
In the property industry, it seems like no physical challenge is insurmountable. Recent evidence comes in the form of Scott Waring, managing partner of Four Corners Advertising, who has just completed four back-to-back marathons in five days in the Sahara Desert.
Waring, whose clients include Harrods Estates, L&Q, One Housing Group and St George, traversed 250km of sandy terrain in the 4 Deserts Sahara event, in Jordan, raising £2,500 for Unicef.
Not only did Waring complete the course, but he came 18th out of a total of 190 competitors, with a total running time of 32 hours and 24 minutes. He was the second Brit over the line.
Agents’ charity widens its remit
The Estate Agency Foundation has been rebranded as Agents Giving.
The charitable body was previously focused purely on fighting homelessness, but now a broader range of charities will benefit from its fundraising efforts.
Agents Giving’s newly appointed chairman, Peter Knight, said: “While homelessness is close to our hearts, by speaking to our members, we found that many agents are also keen to give back directly to their community, whether through raising money for local charities or supporting other activities.
“The new name highlights the breadth of causes that we are able to help through our members’ work.”
As an incentive to raise cash, Agents Giving has pledged to top up any funds raised for elected charities by 10%.
It has already given £50,000 to charities including CentrePoint, Doncaster Housing for Young People and Winter Comfort Cambridge.
