Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has announced 2017 as the “feasible” date for delivering its planned £400m stadium redevelopment, N17.
In an update on its property portfolio, the north London Premier League club said this morning: “We anticipate going out to tender for construction late this year, which will make a stadium opening date of summer 2017 feasible.”
The construction is subject to the outcome of a public inquiry which was held last April and has delayed the purchase of the remaining property needed to build the stadium.
The announcement will help alleviate concerns about the lack of a start date for the new 56,000-seat stadium and the club engaging with a new architect last year.
The club said it had continued to progress stadium finance plans, advised by NM Rothschild.
Chairman Daniel Levy said: “The new stadium is a landmark project.”
He added: “Our current 36,000-seat stadium sells out and the waiting list for season ticket holders is currently in excess of 47,000. We cannot stress strongly enough how critical the new stadium is over the long term.”
At the same, Spurs announced revenue of £147.4m for the 12 months to 30 June 2013 – a 2% increase on 2012.
Profit from operations excluding football trading and before depreciation was £23.4m (2012: £23m).
