DTZ has rocketed up EG’s Cardiff league table this year, signing almost four times as much space as last year and securing more than a quarter of the space taken in the 12 months to the end of February.
The national agent, which placed at number six last year, knocked Fletcher Morgan off the top spot.
The placing is despite Knight Frank launching a blistering charge on the market, racing ahead by 137%. Knight Frank and Fletcher Morgan took silver and bronze positions, politely swapping places from last year’s league table.
And the amount of square feet signed for in the market as a whole more than doubled.
Going up: DTZ
DTZ nearly quadrupled the amount of space it signed for in the 12 months to the end of February 2014, catapulting it to the top spot. Its average deal size might have remained almost static, but it was the number of deals – up from 17 in 2013 to 61 this year – that pushed it into pole position. Its largest deal by far was to the International Baccalaureate Organisation, a 48,500 sq ft letting on Cardiff Gate Business Park which accounted for a quarter of its space transacted.
Going down: Emanuel Jones
Emanuel Jones fell furthest in our rankings, down 28% on its 2013 placing despite working nearly twice as hard and signing more than double the amount of deals as last year. It’s total was boosted in 2013 with three deals over the 3,000 sq ft mark. But it was by no means on its own, with LSH and Savills also registering double-digit decreases in the amount of space signed for.
