MoD to recruit in Gloucs

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a development manager to fund, manage and lead the delivery of a 2,100-home project near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.

The MoD has appointed GVA to seek a partner to advance planning and infrastructure on the site in return for a share of net proceeds on the Ashchurch site, which also includes 25 acres of employment space.

The site comprises around 200 acres of developed land and served formerly as the UK’s primary storage and distribution site for many of the armed forces’ vehicles, as well as Royal Engineer bridges, boats and construction plant.

The MoD is vacating the site, which housed around 650 staff but is now considered aged, as part of its efficiency drive and the government’s Plan for Growth.

It is also offering a potential role in the construction of part or all of the commercial facilities, as well as a percentage of the residential element. The development also includes shops, a school and public realm works.

A pre-qualification questionnaire must be submitted by 27 May with a shortlist selected from the submissions.
