Marble Arch win for Hussey
Mike Hussey’s Almacantar has won planning approval for a redevelopment of Marble Arch Tower, W1. Consent is for a 17-storey, 53-flat tower and a seven-storey block with 123,000 sq ft of offices, shops, public art and a new Odeon cinema. Almacantar also won consent for a 76-flat scheme on Edgware Road, W2. Gerald Eve advised on planning.
Foxtons boss steps down
Foxtons chief executive Michael Brown is to step down as chief executive after 12 years for personal reasons. Chief operating officer Nic Budden will succeed him in the role. Brown has agreed to remain on the board as a non-executive director. The changes will take effect from 1 July.
Yeovil FC relegates retail plan
Yeovil Town Football Club has ditched plans for a supermarket on land near its Huish Park ground that would have funded a new stand. The Somerset club has withdrawn plans for a circa 70,000 sq ft shop after nearly three years of talks with South Somerset district council broke down. Yeovil will pursue an alternative scheme.
Record rent for Manchester
Aerium has achieved a new record headline rent for Manchester after signing recruitment company Robert Walters at 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields. It will take 5,000 sq ft at the office block on an 11-year lease at £32 per sq ft. The previous top rent was £30 per sq ft. OBI Property represented Aerium.
Opportunity in Covent Garden
The office space above Covent Garden Tube station, WC2, has been put up for sale as a refurbishment opportunity.
Didier Tandy’s Sunnyday Capital has appointed Lambert Smith Hampton to sell 11,754 sq ft at 40 Long Acre. Offers in excess of £7.5m are sought for the asset which is let to PR company Fleishman Hillard until June 2015.
