GBR Phoenix Beard rises to Brum top spot

GBR Phoenix Beard has risen from the ashes of a slow Birmingham market to become the city’s top office agent this year.

The agent signed tenants for nearly 330, 000 sq ft of office space in the 12 months to the end of April 2014, according to EGi Regional Offices Research, a hike of 60% on the same period last year, making it EG’s biggest mover in the Birmingham market.

Three chunky deals over the 20,000 sq ft mark elevated the agent to the top spot, namely the 25,000sq ft letting to Housing 21 at Tricorn House , 23,500 sq ft signed to i2 Office at 2 Snowhill , and 22,000sqft at Kettleworks on St George’s Street .

Overall, the Birmingham office market continued a slow recovery, notching up 860,000 sqft of deals in the year to the end of April, a rise of 14% on the previous year. The recovery was backed by a solid increase in the number of deal, up by a near identical amount (16%) while the average deal size also edged up slightly.

Two new entrants broke into the top 10, with Savills at number seven and independent agents Siddall Jones at number 10.
